Pre-K
The Pre-K classroom incorporates pre-reading, math, language arts, creative arts, and science, as well as, a chance for social and emotional growth. Each week's curriculum contains a variety of activities, such as: cooking, music, art, science, woodworking, field trips within the community, outside games, and journal writing.

As the young child heads toward five years old and has a longer attention span, they move upstairs to the Pre-K classroom. This program is designed for children ages 4-6 and incorporates Pre-Kindergarten curriculum. Children are prepared to enter the public school system, either in Pre-K or first grade, and work on language arts, math, science, art, and movement skills, as well as, social and emotional growth. Classroom activities and level of intensity often vary to meet the individual needs, experiences, development, and skills of the children. Through our hands-on, emergent curriculum we meet NAEYC and State standards.

It is important that your child learns to take responsibility for him/herself and develops a sense of group identity. Our teachers take a pro-social developmental approach and assess each child from when they begin and progress from there. Language development is an important aspect of the Pre-K curriculum. We work with the children to build listening skills and expand receptive, as well as, expressive language.

We work by an emergent curriculum which is documented through weekly calendars, monthly newsletters and frequent photo pages. We incorporate a myriad of activities from cooking, music, arts and crafts to field trips, outside games to science experiments. Each child has a personal portfolio in which their growth is continually recorded. We always maintain an open door policy for anytime you need to meet with the teachers.

The schedule is flexible and may vary slightly day to day to meet the needs of an emergent curriculum and children's changing needs.
